News from NZ

Well this is my first post from NZ!
So far NZ has been great! Weather is fairly hot, sometimes we get a bit of rain though.
The first three nights I stayed in Auckland in a very nice lodge in a nice suburb of Auckland called Parnell in the city garden lodge. Initially I've planned to stay 2 nights, but after realising that Auckland is quite nice actually, I added one more night. Toured around Auckland for the first days, including watching some cricket matches in the Auckland Domain (the local park) and a one day long hike up a volcano on Ringatoto island just off Auckland. We took the long route, but it was worth the effort.
I think Auckland and in particular the north island is very nice. The climate is very warm, sometimes quite humid with an almost subtropical trees and plants and lots of crickets. LOTS! And very noise ones.

Currently I'm on the coromandel peninsula for a few days, one day in Coromandel Town (a sleepy little old gold digger village) and two days in Hahei, near Whitianga. It's a small little holiday place with a couple of nice beaches. Tomorrow I'm either going back to Thames to do a 1 day hike through the forest park on the Coromandel peninsula or going up North. Can't decide yet.
Hostels are great and I'm meeting lots of people here. Enjoyed every day so far here.

Und nun auf Deutsch: Mir gefaellts bisher super hier, das Wetter ist sehr warm, aber manchmal regnets auch ein wenig. In den ersten drei Tagen bin ich in Auckland geblieben in einem netten Vorort namens Parnell in einem sehr schoenen Hostel, "City Garden Lodge". Dort habe ich erstmal die Umgebung erkundet und z.B. ein paar Cricket Matches angesehen und auch einen Wandertag auf der Ringatoto Insel eingelegt, wo man auf einen Vulkan wandern kann. Recht anstrengend, aber wirklich sehr schoen. Mein Jetlag war auch gleich am ersten Tag weg, den hatte ich wohl im Flugzeug weggeschlafen, gluecklicherweise. Das Klima hier ist sehr warm, oft schwuel, und mit fast subtropischer Vegetation. Die Zikaden (oder Grillen?) sind auch ueberall und verbreiten einen ziemlichen Laerm.
Momentan bin ich mit einem Franzi unterwegs fuer ein paar Tage, auf der Coromandel Halbinsel. Wir sind am gleichen Tag in Auckland angekommen und haben uns entschlossen, gemeinsam uns ein wenig umzusehen und sind dann schliesslich nach Coromandel gefahren. Dort waren wir einen Tag in Coromandel Town, einer kleinen schlaefrigen Goldgraeber Stadt, und zwei Tage in Hahei an der Ostkueste von Coromandel, wo recht schoene Straende sind. In den naechsten Tagen werde ich dann entweder alleine nach Thames, um dort eine Tagestour durch den Forest Park machen werde, oder ich fahre mit jemanden in den Norden.

Die Hostels hier sind uebrigens wirklich klasse und hier lernt man unglaublich viele Leute kennen. Demnaechst schreib ich noch ein wenig mehr, wenn ich mal ein besseres und billigeres Internetcafe finde.
